Anyone who's ever been burned by a friend knows that losing a guy can't even come close to being stabbed in the back by a girlfriend.  The premise of Megan Crane's new novel "Frenemies" is one that almost anyone can relate to: heroine Gus Curtis suffers the ultimate betrayal when her friend Helen steals her "Mr. Right" Nate from right under her nose.

Here's our interview with Ms. Crane:

 1) What is the inspiration for your novel?

The movie Mean Girls, my personal frenemies, and certain revenge  fantasies involving Exes I Dare Not Name.

 2) Are you working on something right now?

My fourth book will be out next spring from the 5 Spot, so right now  I'm working on the fifth!

 3) What is something about you that would surprise your readers?

I am a big dork.  (Actually, that would surprise no one.)  Maybe that  I still love Lindsay Lohan?  She seems so lost to me.  Not mean or  crazy, just lost.  My completely unexpected empathy for her surprises  me too, to be honest!
