Saturday was a cold, rainy, drizzly day - dreary, miserable, everything that May was not supposed to be. As I struggled out of my cab with my big box of books, it became readily apparent that there was no way I could hold the box, close the cab door, and hold my umbrella at the same time. And so that's how my umbrella ended up in a puddle on the ground and my hair a sodden mess as I stumbled my way into the New York Chinese Cultural Center.

Fortunately, one of our new friends, Antony from AARI, appeared at that moment to help me into the building and lead me up to the Cultural Center. Once there, I felt immediately cheered by the throngs of smiling young people and laughing children as they finished up a day of dancing and gymnastics.  In the office, I saw Michelle with Lauren Lee, who had so graciously invited us to come speak at the Cultural Center.  As we watched a group of young women perform a traditional Chinese handkerchief dance, another new friend Kenji showed up.  Meanwhile, adorable little girls ran around, including one who became all excited and told her friends how Antony had asked her if she was going to be a "China Doll."  After we applauded the dance, Michelle and I had a great talk with our new friends at the Cultural Center.  Check out the photos!
