So back to our book tour - and now we're in San Francisco!

MONDAY
2pm: Michelle and I land in San Fran.  It's a little drizzly and grey, but we're excited to get some real Chinese food in us.  Dropping our bags in our rooms, we immediately head out to get some chow...

4pm: After having some dim sum, we start wandering around Chinatown. San Fran's Chinatown has the most adorable little stores with beautiful silk bags, tapestries, and pillows.  Even though we were supposed to go department store shopping, we completely lose track of time and spend the next few hours stockpiling silk purses!

7pm: Worn out from our shopping, we decide we need to recharge with more Chinese food.  We go to R n G , a Chinese restaurant recommended by my friend Jen.  There, we proceed to go completely overboard. Not only do we order shark's fin soup, lettuce cups filled with minced seafood, and bok choy, but we order the house specialty - giant crab fried in batter.  We barely manage to put away half of the meal....

9:30 pm: We roll our way out of the restaurant, too full to even go out for drinks with friends. Upon exiting the restaurant, we realize it's hailing! In San Francisco! We quickly hail a cab, and go back to our room, where we collapse in a food coma...

TUESDAY

12:30 pm: Michelle and I arrive at Stacy's in downtown San Fran. Upon getting there, we are immediately greeted by Linda, who tells us she loves our book. Yay - our first real fan! Linda's also brought us presents - these darling little porcelain shoes and antique books. Michelle and I are feeling pretty special. Plus, a bunch of our friends show up! The reading goes great, and we have a really good group of attendees who ask some really insightful questions, including an older gentlemen who gallantly holds out his umbrella for us (it's now raining) and offers to take us to lunch.

5pm: Our driver arrives to take us to Book Passage. Apparently, he drove Bill Clinton in our car to Book Passage for his book reading. We're sitting in Bill Clinton's car - cool!

7pm: We're at Book Passage. The people at Book Passage are great - they feed us and even have monogrammed stationary for us! Unfortunately, it's raining and the store is in a mall, which is already mostly closed due to the hour.  Still, some cool people show up and we end up having an intense, really interesting, hour-long discussion with them.

Next Stop: Seattle

      hey you two,
so glad that you got to visit "my city," but calling it it "san fran" is a faux pas anyway, hope you had a good time there.
