It's Oscar weekend and we're in Hollywood for our second stop of the book tour!
Here are some notes that I jotted down from my book tour journal that
stuck out. (They are all over the place so some of our photos will help
you get the "picture"!)
Friday, February 23
11:20 AM- After hopping on a plane at 6 AM in the morning from Chicago,
we arrive in LA a tad bit tired but there was no time to complain about
our exhaustion. We had to jet to our hotel and then head to UCLA for
our first Tinseltown event. There wasn't much complaining by us though
as the weather was sunny and in the 60's!
12:30 PM - We arrive at UCLA and talk about China Dolls to a group of
UCLA students who were absolutely so friendly! The event was nice and
we realize we have definitely made some new friends!
3:30 PM - Blossom and I head back to our hotel in West Hollywood to
have some lunch. We eat at the Boa restaurant and enjoy the scenery.
We're wearing our shades, sitting outside of the place enjoying the LA
lifestyle. I look over at Blossom as I stuff my face with some fresh
pineapple and say "This is the life!"
4:30 PM - We take a trip to CAA to meet with our Creative Artist Agent
Matt Snyder and have a nice talk with him about China Dolls. We
brainstorm and discuss sending out China Dolls to different production
companies. Could there be a "China Dolls" film? Stay tuned!!
6:15 PM - Zooming on the freeway, Blossom and I head to our next book
event in Pasadena at Vroman's bookstore. Our event is at 7:00 PM and
we've been on the road for an hour now. Are we there yet?
6:30 PM - Apparently, we're NOT there yet. We're LOST!! We're heading
west instead of east on the freeway and there is SO much traffic that I
want to cry. I start to feel a twinge of road rage but control myself.
7:30 PM - We get to Vroman's and needless to say are late at our own signing. Nuff said'....Fast forward to Saturday.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24 & SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25
Pictures speak for itself:
Blossom and I discuss 'China Dolls' at our Book Soup event in West Hollywood.
The dashing, Emmy winning, General Hospital casting director Mark
Teschner (left) is kind enough to be part of our dramatic staged
reading. Our friend Jeremy is also kind enough to join us! There's
definite pressure performing in front of a casting director. Phew!!
Our LA friends come out to help support the "China Dolls". Yay! Thanks guys!
General Hospital actress Minae Noji stops by at our reading too. Great to see you Minae!!
Book Soup was our last event in LA and it was a nice turnout.
Other highlights in 90210 land:
--Our rental car gets on fire!! Yes, Blossom and I are driving our car
in Beverly Hills, on our way to do some stock signing. Cars honk at us
and as we turn to the right, some man starts yelling dramatically "Your
car is on fire!!!". We immediately pull our car over and we see smoke
coming out of the rear end. We call Hertz and watch them tow away our
smoky car and head to the Beverly Hills Hotel and wait for a cab to
drive us to get another car. Grrrr....
Aside from that, we were really excited to see lots of our friends on the West Coast.
Next: Off to give ourselves a treat in San Francisco!!!
