When the holidays roll around, the “f” words fly everywhere: family and food feasts! I am proud to say that I contributed to a family meal this weekend making a turkey pasta dish for my family. You know you should be proud of yourself when your grandmother approves and gives you a thumbs-up to the dish. Of course, one of the fabulous things about having a co-author related to you is that they get to share all the fun holiday moments with you too! Blossom and her family came over to my parents’ house to chow down and almost every year, we like to look at old photo albums and share a good laugh. We came across a photo of the two of us in Disneyworld (clearly from years ago), where I looked like a belonged in Princess Toadstool’s kingdom in the Super Mario Brothers Nintendo game.
The most interesting comment received was, “Those were the days! And look at you two now, who would have thought that the two of you would be authors together -business partners!” Business partners? Those two words never really crossed my mind but I guess it’s true. Blossom and I grew up together and we’re only children so we saw each other as sisters from the day I was born (since she’s older than me). When I was a child though, there were times when I didn’t even think she liked me. When we got together with our cousins, they would always exclude me and talk about TV shows that they knew I didn’t watch. When they played playing cards, they would always choose games that were too difficult for me to learn (Hey! I was only six!). I got back at them good though. I pulled out the “crying” card. Every time they started playing a game without me, I would cry to the adults in the family and scream, “They don’t want to play with me! They hate me!” My aunt would then stop my cousins’ little card game and lecture them about how they needed to include me. Sucking their teeth and rolling their eyes at me, I would return a slick smile to them when my grandmother and aunt weren’t looking. Needless to say, games like pigs in a blanket and war were added to their list of "difficult" games.

Ahh...those were the days and those were times that I am thankful for. It's wonderful to be able to share moments like that with your relatives and it's even more wonderful to share in the successes of something like "China Dolls" with your family too. For those of you out there who have a co-author, we all know that your co-author is often the only one that understands you when the times are tough and when the moments are joyous. I'm happy to say I can share that with Blossom! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and Happy Holidays to come!

Cute pic! Happy Thanksgiving! I'm sure it is wonderful to have someone you write with be a family member. That must makes things even more enjoyable and fun.

It's true, FAMILY DOES MATTER! I like when there are family get togethers and everyone reminisces about the old times - good and bad. How they escaped the war, how lucky they were to land in a new country filled with hope, how hard they worked to support the family, how happy they are to know we study hard and relieved to know that we haven't lost all our roots! Everyone leaves with big smiles across their faces. I can't explain it, but I feel it.

I'm really looking forward to the release of "China Dolls"! And Feb 8th couldn't be a better release date!
