A New Season

As a kid, I always hated September.

A huge part of it was, of course, the start of the school season and the endless days of homework and pop quizzes that were to come.  But most of it had to do with the fact that September signaled the beginning of fall, and for me, that was nothing to look forward to.  It's not like the beginning of winter (where the holidays lurk around the corner), or the beginning of spring (with its promise of new beginnings), or the beginning of summer (which signalled sun-drenched vacations).  In contrast, the beginning of fall always seemed to mean the end of something - the end of summer, the end of blue skies and warm breezes and good times.

This year though is different. I was complaining to Michelle about how sad I was that summer was over when she reminded me how much we had to look forward to - and she's totally right. We have a lot to look forward to - it's just that right now, we're in this weird limbo period until publicity ramps up after the holidays and our book comes out in February.  Still, Michelle and I have been keeping busy - working on early publicity, meeting with booksellers, planning our tour.  Plus, we'll hopefully have some exciting news to report soon on a few fronts! So despite the rearing of my slightly Type A personality, I have to agree with Michelle and say that for the first time ever, I'm actually looking forward to fall....
