A Writer's Work is Never Done...

Hi all,
Well, it's Sunday night and I've just spent the past hour trying to decide what's more important: having my moisturizer or waiting an hour at baggage claim. Yes, I'm braving the airport tomorrow for a brief trip to the Windy City and all I can think about is how I'm going to get through security with my carry-on intact...
But enough of my travel dilemmas.  Even though the heavy lifting on the promotional front is yet to come, it's a busy time for "China Dolls."  Now don't get me wrong - almost everything involving "China Dolls" is actually really fun. For example, what's not to love about going to book parties? As I mentioned last time, Michelle and I went to the book party for Diana Peterfreund's Secret Society Girl, and it was a blast. The party was at Home, this happening Meatpacking lounge, and we brought along our editor Diana Szu. There, we ran into our publicist Courtney (who we had no idea was going to be there - which just goes to show that publishing can be a very small world), our friends Marley and Elizabeth, and ofcourse Diana herself! The party was a lot of fun and got us daydreaming about our own book party in February. Who would think that I would ever be looking forward to winter?
Aside from the parties, there is some serious work to be done though. Michelle's been busy working on marketing and cross-promotions this week, we've got first pass pages due this week, and blurbs to do (which is a little surreal given that our book isn't out yet).  We did get some good news though: we got a mention from Asiance in their news section, and speaking of blurbs, we've been getting some great ones (more on that next time, along with a discussion about what blurbs are and why they're important - we had no idea what blurbs were about until we got into this business ourselves).
Allright, enough from me for now. It's back to the packing!
Blossom
